From a technical brochure: (Thanks to Professor Elliot Tanis for this info)
The IME programmer PG 203 can be used in conjunction with the basic IME: 86S calculator making it possible to automatically carry out repetitive programs containing up to 32 individual steps.
The PG 203 is programmed by "patch board." not unlike those used on tabulating machines.
To program any operation, the jack corresponding to the selected step is connected by means of a wire with a jack corresponding to the selected operation.
Each operation can be tied to several steps by the use of pin tip stacking patch cords.
The program may be stopped at any time by wiring to the “stop” jack, permitting the operator to enter variables into the keyboard at any point in the program or to read out intermediate results.
